CONTINUOUS EDIT

The continuous editing project was done using final cut pro. The video shows two men and a woman taking part in a pie fight. I decided against using any audio for the project, because I wanted the viewer to focus on the actual editing of the piece and not the production. In order to show continuity between the cuts, I focused on distinct points in the action and then matched up the two clip to each other. The entire piece took 45 minutes to put together.

STILL EDITING PROJECT

The story im trying to show is that of a cheating boyfriend whose girlfriend catches him with another girl. The girlfriend thinks about what to do and decides to confront the other girl. The two girls get into an argument which leads to the girl breaking up with the guy. The video is split up in to 4-5 different sections using black as transitions. The reason for the black transitions is due to lack of media depicting a full transition between one another. All the transitions are simple fades and the only effect used was putting one picture over another by lowering the opacity of the 2nd picture.

All of the music is from freemusicarchive.org the songs chosen are:

Countdown to Armageddon – Homeland Insecurity
Jozef Van Wissem – Our Hearts Condemn Us
Jozef Van Wissem – The Heaven The Spirit Descends Like a Dove
James Blackshaw – Cloud of Unknowing
Vassily Primakoc – Without Words

PHOTOSHOP PROJECT

I used photoshop to design a web page for Caity Cox. Caity Cox is a rising music star. She is an intimate singer and feels a close connection to her fans. The website is simple yet informative. The site allows her fans to learn as much as they can about her. The home page provides fans with her newest music videos along with links to information about her.

WEB SITE ANALYSIS

 Intro Media Tech Web Analysis
Vstheearth.com or http://www.vstheearth.com is a web site for the band Vstheearth. The band plays a majority of their shows in the mid-atlantic region. The web site provides fans in this region a closer look at the band as well as an opportunity to find shows near them and buy merchandise. The site is constantly updated, providing fans with the most up to date show information. While useful the site is very plain and lacks in-depth information.
The home page provides 4 links with in the site. These links include bio, gallery, calendar, and contact. Also included on the home page are several links to auxiliary sites such as myspace.com, twitter.com, and facebook.com. It also allows navigation to sponsors and places to purchase music and merchandise. Aside from the links, the home page shows a sample clip of one of the band’s music videos. The music video plays for about a minute before asking to visit another site to view the entire video. Above the video is a quick blurb about the band. The blurb provides little detail, and is more promotional then anything else. All around the home page allows easy navigation.
The Bio link lacks the information one might be seeking about the band. It does not have any personal information about the band members. The Bio page includes the blurb from the index, along with the bands philosophy and a history of people they have played with. The bio continues with information about their myspace.com page, and finishes with a promotional pitch. The bio is in small white font against a gray background. It is not the easiest to read and contains typos. The one positive about the bio page is that all the links from the home page carry over to the bio page to allow easy navigation.
Selecting the gallery page will bring up a 15-20 picture slide show. Most of the pictures are from albums the band has put out. The slide show is easy to navigate through and allows control of the speed, along with the option to control which picture is shown. The entire page is very plain. It fails to provide pictures of the bands’ shows and is poorly put together.
The Calendar is once again typed in small white font on a gray background, making it very hard to read. The calendar provides fans with upcoming show information and provides links to the venues. The calendar is up to date, however it only provides a two-week schedule.
Clicking the contact link once again brings up the same font and background. All band members have an email address that can be selected along with their manager. The contact information for bookings and the web designer are also available.
Overall the site is very easy to navigate through. The flaws in the site are the presentation, outside links and lack of information. As a site for a band there is an obvious lack of music on the site. The gray, black, and maroon colors are not the most appealing. The site appears to be more of a hub to several other sites. The information provided is useful, however lacks the intimacy one might be seeking when visiting the bands site. This site does the job, but could us more attention to detail.
